ABUSE.   IT KNOWS NO AGE.   IT SEES NO RACE.   IT AFFECTS THE POOR, AS WELL AS THE RICH.

 

TYPES OF ABUSE

PHYSICAL ABUSE IS ANY BEHAVIOR THAT IS MEANT TO CAUSE HURT TO ANOTHER PERSON'S BODY OR TO CONTROL ANOTHER PERSON'S BODY OR TO CONTROL ANOTHER PERSON'S PHYSICAL FREEDOM. IT IS ANY USE OF SIZE, STRENGTH, OR PRESENCE TO HURT OR CONTROL SOMEONE ELSE.

EMOTIONAL ABUSE  IS A WAY OF HURTING SOMEONE WITHOUT NECESSARILY BEING PHYSICAL.  IT'S WHEN ONE PERSON IN A RELATIONSHIP TRIES TO CONTROL THE OTHER PERSON'S FEELINGS OR THOUGHTS IN ORDER TO GAIN POWER OVER THEM.  THE USE OF WORDS, VOICE, ACTION OR LACK OF ACTION MEANT TO CONTROL, HURT OR DEMEAN ANOTHER PERSON.

SEXUAL ABUSE IS ANY SEXUAL BEHAVIOR MEANT TO CONTROL, MANIPULATE, HUMILIATE, OR DEMEAN ANOTHER PERSON.

ECONOMIC ABUSE  IS A FORM OF ABUSE WHEN ONE PARTNER HAS CONTROL OVER THE OTHER PARTNER'S ACCESS TO ECONOMIC RESOURCES, WHICH DIMINISHES THE VICTIM'S CAPACITY TO SUPPORT THEMSELVES AND FORCE DEPENDENCE ON THE PERPETRATOR FINANCIALLY
